Kontron and GENBAND to Showcase HD Video Delivery Reference Solution for Service Provider NFV Environments

Combined hardware and software technologies improve service provider economics with hyper-dense and cost-optimized Session Border Controller media transcoding on Intel architecture

Augsburg, GERMANY, February 25th, 2015 – Kontron and GENBAND, a leading developer of real time communications software solutions, will demonstrate an innovative network functions virtualization (NFV) reference architecture that significantly improves the economics of HD video and audio transcoding for cloud-based real-time communications.
 
The reference solution will be live at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, March 2-5, 2015, at Kontron stand 5H19, Hall 5, and GENBAND stand 2I31, Hall 2.
 
The goal is to demonstrate to Communication Service Providers (CSPs) how to achieve massive scalability, superior economic efficiencies and quality video delivery when leveraging the GENBAND Session Border Controller (SBC) NFV application on the Kontron SYMKLOUD converged modular server that features up to 18 Intel® Core i7-4860EQ processors and redundant hot-swappable 10GbE switching.
 
The demonstration will highlight Kontron and GENBAND’s NFV leadership in cloud-based media processing with a High Definition video transcoding SBC application, with the control plane and media SBC components both running in a virtualized NFV cloud environment on the Kontron SYMKLOUD server utilizing Intel®  architecture.
