Kontron introduces the new Pi-Tron CM5 based on the Compute Module 5 from Raspberry Pi Ltd.

Industrial embedded electronics based on the all-new Raspberry Pi 5 at embedded world 2025

Ismaning, Germany, February 25, 2025 – Kontron, a leading global provider of IoT/Embedded Computer Technology (ECT), is launching the new BL Pi-Tron CM5 at embedded world 2025. The new industrial board is designed to meet the demand for off-the-shelf products and an open software environment in the embedded industry. It is based on the latest Compute Module 5 from Raspberry Pi Ltd.
 
The BL Pi-Tron CM5 offers significantly increased performance over its predecessor and is suitable for demanding applications. The Broadcom BCM2712, a Quad Core Cortex^®-A76, 64-bit SoC running at 2.4 GHz provides high processing power. The graphics capabilities of the board include a 4Kp60 HEVC decoder, OpenGL ES 3.1 and Vulkan 1.2, which ensure a smooth and high quality image display.

A special feature of the BL Pi-Tron CM5 is the M.2 B-Key slot with PCIe connection, which enables additional expansion options. The device also features high-performance interfaces designed specifically for demanding applications in industrial environments. Memory options range from 1GB to 8GB LPDDR4-4267 SDRAM with ECC and eMMC Flash memory options from 0GB (CM5 Lite) to 64GB.

The maximum bandwidth of eMMC memory is 200MBps, twice that of Compute Module 4. These features combine high processing speeds with large memory capacities. In addition, the BL Pi-Tron CM5 offers expansion and communication options such as PCIe Gen 2, WLAN 2.4/5 GHz and Bluetooth 5.0 BLE.

First customer samples will be available in Q2/2025.
