Eching/Nuremberg, February 26, 2014 – At the Embedded World Conference, embedded computing leader, Kontron, announced their collaboration with salesforce.com on a series of Internet of Things (IoT) and Internet of Customer (IoC) applications "proof of concepts". The jointly developed concepts, running on Salesforce1, are designed to enable developers to achieve faster application implementation with minimal technology risk while helping to spark future design ideas that propel IoT advancement. Virtually any application that requires assets that need to connect to people, such as those in the industrial, medical and Point-of-Sale markets, can benefit from the Kontron and Salesforce.com IoT and IoC concepts. Kontron will demonstrate the proof of concepts with Salesforce.com at Embedded World, February 25 - 27, 2014 in Nuremberg, Germany Hall 1, Booth 478.
The proof of concepts combine a select group of advanced Kontron platforms that are pre-validated with the Salesforce1 software to deliver proven, cutting-edge connectivity capabilities and industry-leading computing performance. These concepts substantially streamline development by allowing developers to focus solely on the application level eliminating the need to be computing and software technology experts.
As one of the world’s leading providers of embedded computer technology, Kontron solutions are used in thousands of applications that range from medical systems to advanced industrial controllers and point of sales equipment. Enhanced device connectivity powered by Kontron advanced computing platforms are the key building-block foundation for the Internet of Things. With this expertise, Kontron understands that business models will evolve beyond the classical M2M into new business models based on IoT. For successful IoT implementations, it is not a matter of collecting more asset data, but about using a digital connection to gain insight, provide support to connect people with people and assets with people.
"The collaborative results with Salesforce.com are a major step forward because we believe that the future of Internet of Things needs to be focused on enabling companies to better interact with their customers, their colleagues and suppliers and even their technology to become the Internet of Customers. This means that M2M solutions need to do more than just provide data from a device to the cloud," said Marcel van Helten, executive vice president Industrial business unit, Kontron. "At Kontron, we are committed to be the leading technology provider for both IoT end point and enabling communication infrastructure solutions that creates and advances technology into the more useful and productive Internet of Customers experience."
