Contact SupportKontron’s CMON-Line introduces powerful tools for run time health monitoring and control for embedded systems
Toulon, France, September 13, 2017 – Kontron, a leading global provider of Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), today announced CMON-Line, a new set of tools for monitoring and maintaining the healthy operation of embedded computing systems.
The new CMON-Line Monitoring module offers a turnkey, extensible, and data centric solution for local or remote system health monitoring. It complements Kontron’s Power-On Built-In Test (PBIT) which extends traditional built-in-test methodologies through signaling any modification made to the computer by comparing against a previous system configuration recording. Both modules use ‘learn and compare’ techniques which define their behavior without programming.
The Monitoring solution included in selected recent Linux BSPs can be used to deliver the overall health status of the system. The initial software package monitors over 100 measurement points and is easily extendable to cover additional hardware and software added by integrators or users. Its core data is open source in XML format and ready for multiple use cases, from proprietary system management, to off-the-shelf, innovative Application Performance Monitoring (APM) frameworks. This initial deployment includes sample dashboards as well as a turnkey continuous built-in-test implemented as a Linux service.
“Today’s embedded PC applications demand higher levels of control and status reporting as they are called on to perform more complex tasks, often forcing designers to address this issue in the application code which adds complexity and costs to design and deployment”, said Robert Negre, VP of Business Development at Kontron. “CMON-Line tools help fill the gap and provide an out-of-the-box and easily customizable continuous monitoring capability”.
Free evaluation kits of the monitoring and PBIT package are available now on a selection of VME and VPX blades and TRACe computer boxes.
