KONTRON, a member of the S&T Group and a leading supplier of embedded systems, invited to its innovation day on October 18th, under the motto: "SUCCESSFULL THROUGH DIGITIZATION".
TSN and AI
The innovation day started out with a tour through the production and live demos of various IoT/embedded products. TSN Ethernet is not just a vision of the future for Kontron. A live demonstration showed three motors synchronized through TSN in "real time". Kontron also highlighted artificial intelligence (AI), a topic they are working on with partners and together they were showcasing an automous driving vehicle. One thing became clear during the day: while industrial computers and boards are Kontron's core business today, the focus within the group is moving more and more towards software.
Key Notes and Presentations
The session of various presentations was opened by Hannes Niederhauser, CEO of the S&T AG. He outlined the strong financial position of the group and explained their strategy to combine IoT solutions with high quality IT services.
Frank Thomas, ARC associate, presented a key note on the impact of digitalization on the automation architectures and, even more important, on the way business will be conducted with a much higher degree of collaboration. Norbert Hauser, VP marketing of Kontron, outlined how the various options Edge to Fog to Cloud can be implemented.
Kontron’s customers can benefit from software solutions by the S&T group alongside the innovative hardware solutions of Kontron itself. This was also the focus of the technology strategy presented by Laurent Remont, CTO of S&T / Kontron.
Key Notes and presentations by Intel (Christian Glanz), Microsoft (Oliver Niedung) and Bosch Rexroth (Dr. Thomas Brandl) delivered insights into the possibilities of Artificial Intelligence, Edge-Cloud-KI Technologies and TSN Ethernet. The day was rounded off by Kontron’s presentation of successful applications based on the company’s SUSIEtec IoT Framework and new processor platforms.
The innovation day of Kontron offered enough time for networking during breaks and the dinner and offered a comprehensive view on the latest innovations and future technology roadmaps of S&T and Kontron.
