Contact SupportKontron continues to update its product line to track the evolving SOSA™ Technical Standard
Ismaning, December 1, 2020 – Kontron, a leading global provider of IoT/Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), announced the new variant of its successful VX305C-40G 3U OpenVPX single board computer module updated to align with the SOSA™ Technical Standard Snapshot 3, released in July 2020. The updated VX305C-40G variant addresses several technical items that were introduced into the SOSA™ Technical Standard since the VX305C-40G was first introduced and brings it in alignment with the standard.
The VX305C-40G is designed to the VITA 65 slot profile SLT3-PAY-1F1F2U1TU1T1U1T-14.2.16 (known as the “I/O Intensive SBC profile”) and combines the computational power of the 12-core Intel® Xeon® D-1559 processor with a rich assortment of I/O, most notable being a 40 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) Data Plane.
This new revision, in addition to the elimination of a number of relatively minor technical issues related to the standard, introduces two significant user features: DisplayPort (DP++) video and VITA 42 XMC connectors. The original VX305C-40G variants offering HDMI video and VITA 62 XMC2 connectors are still available.
"These updates to the VX305C-40G so soon after release of the SOSA™ Technical Standard Snapshot 3 demonstrates Kontron’s commitment to the SOSA™ standard effort,” says Matthias Huber, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, North America. “Kontron will continue to participate in the development of the SOSA™ standard through membership and leadership in numerous working groups, and will continue to develop products for the burgeoning SOSA™ hardware elements market in order to bring new capabilities to the warfighter faster than ever before.”
The SOSA™ Technical Standard is being developed by the SOSA Consortium, a voluntary, consensus-based member consortium of The Open Group, a vendor-neutral technology standards organization. The SOSA Consortium is a government, industry and academic alliance developing an open technical standard for sensors and C5ISR systems.
