Dieses kreditkartengroße COM Express® mini Modul ist kompatibel zum COM Express® Pin-out Type 1. Dank des lediglich 55 mm x 84 mm messenden Formats sind COMe-mSP1 COMs die ideale Wahl für die nächste Generation von stromsparenden, ultra-mobilen Applikationen die energiesparende x86 Prozessor Performance, High-End Grafik, PCI-Express und Serial ATA in Kombination mit langer Batterieverfügbarkeit erfordern. Anwendungsbereiche sind beispielsweise Handheld-Devices für medizinische oder Multimedia-Applikationen, kleine mobile Datenterminals und viele neue Applikationen, die bislang aufgrund der Größe und dem Energieverbrauch bestehender Architekturen nicht möglich waren.
Das Kontron COM Express® mini COM basiert auf der hocheffizienten Intel® Atom™ 5XX Prozessor Serie und dem Intel® System Controller Hub. Dieser integrierte Singlechip-Chipsatz kombiniert den Speicher- und Grafikcontroller sowie die I/Os auf ein einen einzigen Chip. Mit nur einem Zehntel der Thermal Design Power und einem Siebtel der Größe von ULV Prozessoren bei identischer Performance bietet das COMe-mSP1 Computer-on-Module beispiellose Leistung pro Watt Bewertung und ist damit ideal für x86-basierte ultra-mobile Designs ausgelegt.
Das COMe-mSP1 mit Flash und Speicher onboard unterstützt 1 PCI Express x1 (opt. 2 x1 falls kein LAN onboard), Serial ATA, High Definition Audio, LVDS und optional SDVO. Für schnellen Netzanschluss ist 10/100/1000 Gigabit-Ethernet onboard und reichliche 8x USB bieten schnelle Schnittstellen für externe Peripherie.
All diese Eigenschaften bilden den Rahmen für COM Express® mini – niedriger Verbrauch - geringe Größe – große Leistung.
