Our Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) are networks of spatially separated antennas connected to a common source, designed to enhance wireless service within specific areas. By distributing the signal, DAS improves coverage and capacity in locations with high user density or areas where traditional antennas struggle to provide adequate service, such as large buildings and tunnels. Our DAS solutions ensures seamless signal coverage, eliminating dead zones and weak signal areas, and supports a higher number of users simultaneously, making it ideal for venues with large crowds.

The next generation of critical communication

An advanced generation of repeater systems with a newly developed technology platform will combine BOS, Polycom, and private mobile radio frequencies, with potential future expansion. The new generation features a redundant digital optical distribution system and emphasizes streamlined planning, installation, and maintenance processes. With strong technical capabilities including high output power and new SDR platform features, it ensures interference-free connections in various environments like tunnels, airports, and public buildings, with flexible deployment options and reliable cable monitoring.

RUD-5 – “Long-Term Excellence in Radio Repeater Technology” 

The RUD-5, developed by COMLAB (now Kontron), is a versatile radio repeater designed to enhance radio coverage across various networks. It comes as either a fiber-optic or off-air repeater and supports multiple frequency bands and operators, covering a bandwidth of 50MHz to 2,700MHz. This system allows for easy re-farming of frequency bands and features digital sub-band filtering to amplify only desired signals without interference.

It supports a wide range of technologies such as GSM, UMTS, LTE, GSM-R, TETRA/Tetrapol, AM, FM break-in, DAB+ break-in, UHF, and VHF. The RUD-5 is compact, available in various housing options, and suitable for both outdoor and indoor applications.

 

OAM-APPLICATIONS

COSweb – "Your All-in-One Network Management Solution"

All Kontron Transportations solutions are available with an additional Network Management System called COSweb.

The over the air or onsite device software update feature enables to schedule application updates in the COSweb system. Device monitoring module monitors the health of all the different system components in real-time, using online connections, and uses a flexible notification system for alerts. It also offers an excellent reporting, statistics & data visualization sub-system. The intuitive design simplifies the management of the entire device fleet and reduces the effort for typical tasks such as data management or fare maintenance. You can access the devices and execute direct commands remotely. This way, disruptions can be solved quickly, and on-site technicians are freed up.

Germany: Intrain-Repeater - Modular Intrain Repeater System

Our Modular Intrain Repeater System was successfully implemented across 400 trains, covering a total of 3,800 railroad cars in Germany. This project integrated GSM, UMTS, and LTE technologies, with COSweb deployed for remote monitoring and updates, ensuring seamless and efficient communication throughout the rail network.

 

Austria: ÖBB Repeater on ÖBB Rail Tracks

We deployed a multiband repeater system for ÖBB rail tracks in Austria, providing comprehensive services including GSM-R L1/L2, GSM, UMTS, TETRA, and
trunked radio. This project covered 70 km of tunnels, with the longest tunnel spanning 34 km, ensuring reliable communication across the extensive tunnel network.

 

Switzerland: SBB Repeater on SBB Rail Tunnels

In Switzerland, our multiband repeater system was installed in SBB rail tunnels, offering services such as GSM-R, GSM, UMTS, and Polycom (TETRA).
The COSweb system was utilized for remote monitoring and updates, providing robust and reliable communication solutions in the challenging tunnel environments.

 

Germany: DB Repeater on VDE 8.1 Nürnburg - Erfurt and 8.2 Erfurt - Leipzig

We delivered a public authority radio Digital BOS (TETRA Standard) repeater system for the VDE 8.1 Nuremberg - Erfurt and 8.2 Erfurt - Leipzig routes in Germany.
This project encompassed 25 tunnels and featured a multi-redundant setup, meeting the high standards required by both the railway and authorities.
COSweb was implemented for remote monitoring and updates.

 

China: High-Speed Lines

Our high-redundant GSM-R Train Control System was deployed across 600 km of tunnels on the Chinese high-speed rail lines, where 95% of the track runs through tunnels. This system ensures robust and reliable communication, supporting the advanced requirements of high-speed rail operations with GSM-R and CTCS technologies.

 

Germany: InHouse Portfolio

We implemented an InHouse Repeater System and Network Management System to provide coverage for inhouse environments and airport tunnels in Germany.
This project adhered to TETRA standards for BOS and commercial use, ensuring reliable communication in critical areas.

 

Switzerland: InHouse Portfolio

In Switzerland, our InHouse Repeater System and Network Management System were deployed to offer comprehensive inhouse coverage.
The system, equipped with COSweb for remote monitoring, is fully redundant, ensuring continuous and reliable communication.
